Anxiety
Feeling strangled by life?
Did you know that the origin of the word "WORRY" is from the Old English "wyrgan," which means TO STRANGLE??
Do any of these strangleholds sound familiar?
Panic attacks, racing thoughts, negative thinking (also known as "self-bashing"), difficulty making decisions, self-consciousness, social anxiety, perfectionism that leads to procrastination…
It’s not just in your head.
It is now scientific fact that anxiety and stress can lead to physical problems. Anxiety presents itself in so many different ways, all of which can choke the well-being right out of you.
Ever broken out in a rash during times of extreme stress? Or gone to the doctor with stomach pain or digestive issues… but neither doctors nor specialists can find anything wrong?
People sometimes go to the emergency room thinking they are having a heart attack… and it turns out to be a panic attack.
Do you live "waiting for the other shoe to drop"?
Ever avoided a social event due to anxiety? Do you avoid speaking or eating in front of other people?
Are you very concerned about what other people think of you? Afraid that others are judging you negatively? Thinking you are "not as good as"?
"What if" this is a reflection of your own core beliefs about yourself? Your own harsh self-judgment?
What if, what if, what if …
What if I speak up – everyone will think I’m an idiot.
What if I go to the party and have a panic attack?
What if the sky falls?
Some of the worst things in my life never even happened.
– Mark Twain
Well, how about this "What if":
What if life is better when you stop courting an imagined future catastrophe that might never happen?
I can help you back to the present moment…
… where life is actually happening, so we can figure out what is hijacking your well-being and address it.
Negative thoughts, flimsy personal boundaries, social avoidance, physical symptoms such as muscle tension, shallow breathing, digestive problems…
I will help you to notice the ways you’ve come to cope with your symptoms, and we’ll explore whether they are healthy or not.
Addressing your anxiety doesn’t mean you have to get rid of it altogether – we’ll find ways to manage it, so it does not get in the way of living the life you want.
You do not have to let your anxiety be the boss of you.
